Iowa women’s basketball dominates No. 12 Ohio State, 91-70

Behind 42 points in the paint, the Hawkeyes took down Ohio State, 91-70, and won their third top-15 matchup within a week. They are now 9-0 in Big Ten play.

“I think we just have phenomenal post players all around,” said Kylie Feuerbach, an Iowa graduate student guard. “Each of them do their own thing. They throw a lot of things at the other teams, and so yeah it is gritty down there, but they get them every single game. So it’s just really great because it opens shots, opens up transition, no matter what it is. Yeah, they are a forced to be reckoned with for sure.”

“I think Coach Jan says it all the time, “Pass the baton.” One day someone is on the fire, the next day it is the next person,” said Addie Deal, an Iowa freshman guard. “I think it’s great we just have a well-rounded team it could literally be anyone’s day, any time.”

The one down side in the Iowa win was senior Taylor McCabe going down with an apparent knee injury less than a minute into the game.

“Taylor is going to have an MRI later, but anytime that situation happens, like it happens, you’re probably hoping against hope in certain situations,” said Jan Jansen, Iowa women’s basketball’s head coach. “We don’t know for sure, so I have a strong faith. Definitely going to be uplifting her, but I think it is a tough one, but it was a tough situation so early. I think a team can handle that a lot of ways. You can kind of get ruffled and, you know Taylor McCabe has been an extremely great leader.”

Next up for Iowa is a trip out to the west coast. They take on USC on Thursday.
