After spending all of last season on injured reserve, safety A.J. Finley has agreed to a new contract with the team. Terms were not disclosed as of this writing.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe former Ole Miss star went undrafted in 2023 before he was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers. Finley played 22 games for them, predominantly featuring on special teams, before he was waived in November and claimed by the Seahawks. He played four games for Seattle (with all but six snaps on special teams) and was expected
Hopes of competing for a roster spot and more playing time were dashed in August at the Seahawks’ Football Fan Fest event at Lumen Field. Finley hurt his knee defending a Jalen Milroe pass intended for Dareke Young and stayed on the ground for several minutes before being helped off the field by the training staff.
With Coby Bryant gone to the Chicago Bears, Finley has a chance to be a backup safety in 2026 as Seattle tweaks its secondary.
